Repairing Broken Bones with Eggshells

Eggshells Repairing Bones
Eggshells can enhance the growth of new, strong bones needed in medical procedures, a team of UMass Lowell researchers has discovered (article)
Through the innovative process, crushed eggshells are inserted into a hydrogel mixture that forms a miniature frame to grow bone in the laboratory to be used for bone grafts. To do so, bone cells would be taken from the patient's body, introduced into this substance and then cultivated in an incubator before the resulting new bone is implanted into the patient.

Eggshells Fixing Bone damage
How crushed eggshells could help repair bone damage (article)
Soon, the phrase "walking on eggshells" may gain a positive new meaning thanks to researchers from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. In their new study, which they conducted both in vitro and in a rat model, they showed how crushed eggshells could be the way forward in fixing bone damage.

Repairing Bones With Eggshells Could eggshells help to grow and heal bones? (article)
Eggshells can enhance the growth of new, strong bones needed in medical procedures, a team of UMass Lowell researchers has discovered.

The technique developed by UMass Lowell could one day be applied to repair bones in patients with injuries due to aging, accidents, cancer and other diseases or in military combat, according to Assistant Prof. Gulden Camci-Unal, who is leading the study.

Rabipur
Rabies Vaccine
A history of allergy to eggs or a positive skin test to ovalbumin does not necessarily indicate that a subject will be allergic to Rabipur. However, subjects who have a history of a severe hypersensitivity reaction to eggs or egg products should not receive the vaccine for pre-exposure prophylaxis. Such subjects should not receive the vaccine for post-exposure prophylaxis unless a suitable alternative vaccine is not available, in which case all injections should be administered with close monitoring and with facilities for emergency treatment.

Article:
World Health Organization: Rabies
The vaccines used for pre-exposure and post-exposure vaccination are the same, but the immunization schedule differs. Rabies immunoglobulin is used only for post-exposure prophylaxis. Modern vaccines of cell-culture or embryonated-egg origin are safer and more effective than the older vaccines, which were produced in brain tissue. These modern rabies vaccines are now available in major urban centres of most countries of the developing world. Rabies immunoglobulin, on the other hand, is in short supply worldwide and may not be available, even in major urban centres, in many dog rabies-infected countries.

Ebola VaccineIn Development Stage Made With Duck Egg
Anti-Ebola MVA Vaccine Produced on ProBioGen’s Avian AGE1.CR® Cell Line Platform in Clinical Trials
In contrast to the traditionally used cells from embryonated chicken eggs, AGE1.CR.pIX®, derived from a muscovy duck, is devoid of adverse retroviral activity. Hence, the complex and costly production processes with chicken eggs can be replaced by a modern safe, fully scalable, and cost-effective production platform which is easily transferrable, requires only a small footprint and standard bioreactor technology.

WHO States "At this time, there are no vaccines to protect against EVD licensed for use in humans. Clinical trials for several candidate vaccines are in various phases and a safe and effective vaccine is hoped for by the end of 2015."

NOTE: The most promising Ebola vaccines are grown on tobacco leaves not on any type of eggs.

Duck Eggs/ Chicken Egg Allergy
Rabies Vaccines USED to be grown on duck eggs in Western Counties, currently few countries still use duck egg to make rabies vaccines. Some people who are allergic to chicken eggs are also allergic to duck eggs. Some people who are allergic to duck eggs can handle chicken eggs and vise versa.

Egg Yolk Soap
"Egg Yolk Soap is our most unusual, hard-to-find soap. It is derived from a 19th century farmhouse recipe. We add pure, unrefined shea butter as a moisturizer and beeswax for a longer-lasting bar."
